Yucckk..!

Haha ok, well after been advised not to take creatine on it’s own, i decided to go out and buy ‘Pro-Whey’ from Schwartz Laboratories. All looked good at first sight, strawberry flavor, 24 grams of protein in each serving, and low calories. So i brought it, took it home, mixed it up with some water and i was heaving from the smell! It was really that bad, dispite the shopkeeper saying ‘Yerp, that one tastes quite good!’. So bad i couldn’t even force myself to drink it all!

Look’s like i’ll have to stick to my chicken and tuna for a while =)

Protein and Creatine

20060828 00:36

Studies have been conducted in the past to assess muscular adaptations during six weeks of hard training. 36 males were randomly assigned to take whey protein (W; 1.2 g/kg/day), whey protein and creatine monohydrate (WC; 0.1 g/kg/day), or placebo (P; 1.2 g/kg/day maltodextrin). Workout included bench press, squat strength, and knee extension peak torque.

It was seen that lean muscle was greater with training in group WC compared to other groups. With continuous training throughout the six weeks, males that supplemented with protein demonstrated greater lean tissue mass than males which engaged in training alone. Males that supplemented with both protein and creatine had greater increases in lean tissue mass and bench press than those supplemented with only protein and placebo.

In conclusion, if you aren’t already taking creatine/protein I recommend you take both creatine and whey protein to see best results!

Creatine Ethyl Ester

20060825 14:06

Creatine Ethyl Ester is creatine monohydrate with an ester attatched. An organic compound that are formed by esterification, the reaction of carboxylic acid and alcohols.

Regular creatine monohydrate has been show to be effective at increasing lean muscle, muscle strength and endurance. However, regular creatine is absorbed poorly by the body and you rely on the cells ability to absorb it. Due to the poor absorption rate it requires a large dosages of creatine.

Creatine ethyl ester is a creatine monohydrate with an ester attatched, the ester is significant as its found in the fat tissue of animals.

All substances that you put into your body will affect its operation. There are three ways that substances can affect a cells operation.

They are:
Ligand binding to protein receptor sites.
Secondary messenger / metabotropic systems
Passive permeation of the cell wall via lipids

Unlike normal creatine monohydrate, there has been no reports which show side effects of using creatine ethyl ester.

When to take Creatine

20060824 16:14

If your seeking the best results of Creatine, it is best to take one teaspoon of creatine at least one hour before workout, it will stay in your system for roughly one hour and a half, so take it two hours after your workout and then one more teaspoon before you go to sleep.

If your not training that day, take it two teaspoons throughout the day.
