Creatine – the cause of acne?

20061019 22:53

Since taking creatine, there is a likelyhood of you may see an increase of acne production, now you ask. Why is that so?

Creatine does not cause acne by itself, there have been studies that show creatine doesn’t directly cause acne, although using insulin as a creatine transporter may be where the problem lies.

Many brands of creatine, including the one i personally use will advise you to take creatine with fruit juice or drinks such as powerade. Now, if you aren’t prone to acne, this is a good thing. But if you are prone, and are not using products to stop acne, the release of hormones cap and will most definatley cause a noticable increase of acne.

It’s recommended to take creatine with water only, however dirty it tastes. It may take longer to be saturated into your muscles, but it is your choice.

Two months go by, and ive added 20kg on my benchpress

20061016 22:18

I was just thinking to myself today while training, where the hell have all my weights gone?! I have a 60kg set at home which i can use on my barbell on my bench press. Looks like i’ll have to be ordering more! I have 2kg sitting on the floor, and the rest are on the barbell.

I’m quite shocked! When i post on this blog i don’t really think about what the weight was before when i put more on. Now reading back when this blog was first launched, roughly at the beginning of August, i posted ‘I am able to lift 40kg’s (88lbs) on bench press using a barbell, and 11kg (24lbs) on bicep curls using dumbells’, in only two months i have added almost 20kg’s (44lbs) to my bench press!  Thats quite amazing!
I will continue to post what’s happening, and any problems that may arise. Just imagine, in four months time, i could be benching 100kg!

Upped by bench press, once again..

Some reading may be thinking, this is just some big hype to try and earn commission from creatine products, you may be correct but i am also using the blog to post my personal achievements while taking creatine and protein shakes.

Earlier, i decided to up my bench press weights again by another 5kg. May not sound like alot, but it sure makes a difference! I have had to lower my reps to 4 or 5 so i can do it correctly.

Who know’s.. next time i may up it by 10kg :p

Will keep you updated!

Pasta on the go

20061009 11:21

Ive definatley been eating more pasta, whether it be at work, home or on the train. Pasta is a simple dish, but it can be the best meal of your day with the right food mixed in.

Pasta is fortified with folic acid which is important throughout our lives, believe it or not in a womans childbearing years, folic acid is a key nutrient before conception because it helps to prevent birth defects. In addition, there is new evidence that folic acid may protect against heart disease and some types of cancer.

For body builders, it can be a meal packed with carbs and protein depending on what you do with it, i personally mix tuna and sweetcorn in the past, but you can literally throw anything in the bowl and it will be a nice treat for your taste buds.

If you havent already, give it a go! Take a look here for some good pasta recipes.
